I'm not a junkie so getting a pill rX isn't really appealing to me

Well, what if you are bleeding internally? Pierced lung? Your post is too vague to say

It's been about a week..I'm sure if I was bleeding internally or had punctured a lung I wouldn't be able to run or do anything active which I have done.

The sneeze yesterday was a big setback doe.

How did you do it? Adult party at a trampoline park.
That’s how I broke ribs when I was 12,doing flips and landed on the metal frame.Cured me of wanting to jump on trampolines.

I had a pretty bad fall earlier this year and I must have torn the cartilage or bruised the ribs something. I could breathe okay, although it hurt on deep breaths. I dreaded sneezing and couldn’t do much exercise other than walking. The pain went away after a couple of months or three.

It’s like that old joke where the patient tells the doctor “it hurts when I do this” and the doctor says “don’t do this.” Avoid what makes it hurt and let it heal.

I’m sitting at urgent care now with what I think is a broken rib. I’m miserable, hurts to move, breath you name it. They probably can’t do anything but hopefully they can give me something for the pain.

Sounds like you are getting prescription strength Excedrin

Is there any reason to go to Dr if you have hurt ribs or rib cartilage?

I’ve bruised my ribs a couple of times. Takes a while to heal, few weeks at least for the pain to subside. Advil and a heating pad should help.

If you get prescribed pain pills to help with the pain of let’s say, hurt ribs, is that being a junkie?

Ha. Diving for a ball in beach volleyball and landed on the ball. Hurt like hell for a few months.

Sometimes people with rib injuries won't breath deeply or cough due to the pain, and that can lead to pneumonia.

This right here.

OP see if they will give you an incentive spirometer so you can take some extra deep breaths every hour and keep track of your breathing.

If you have any small pimple looking spots over the hurt rib it may be shingles. Good luck.
