OP from 6/12/20:

The 12z Euro EPS is dead over the next 10 days

Looking out beyond 10 days and the Atlantic looks mostly unfavorable for development through the end of the month (black box). There will likely be development in the EPAC (green box). Then that more favorable upper level environment might transition to the Atlantic in early July.

The third named storm of a hurricane season doesn’t usually occur until August 13th. We are 62 days away from August 13th. Already have three named TC.

WWL-TV met (I'm back home in NOLA visiting family) said today that Saharan dust is starting to get blown out into the Atlantic... which should serve to inhibit really anything that tries to get going out in the area where we normally watch out that way

This is my prediction.

Named Storms: 12-21

Hurricanes: 4-12

Major Hurricanes: 2-8

Now I'm not an expert, per se, but I bet you I do just as good as the rest of them.

The 1st two systems were pretty borderline. C was pretty much right in line with climo. The genesis pathways for early season systems are so different than the peak season that there is very little correlation between early season systems and the rest of the season. However, many people are seeing conditions in August & September being prime for a big season but what we think we know in June is often different than what actually happens in August and September.

Since this is 2020, which storm name will be the cat 5 that will sweep across the entire gulf coast from east to west, then west to east? I’m going with Josephine.
