The itcz is an area of converging winds from the southern (moving northwesterly) hemisphere and northern (moving southwesterly) hemisphere. The itcz shifts to the northern hemisphere in our summer and southern hemisphere in our winter. In very basic terms it spins up cyclones due to the converging winds at the surface forcing atmospheric rising and circulation. There’s obviously a lot of other shite at play needed for tropic cyclone formation but this is a very basic explanation of the role the itcz plays in some storm formations.

First time the GFS gets it into the Gulf and blows it up. 8-9 days away so gonna change so don't panic people.
