woah.. there's actually 3 missions in progress

NHC and all parties involved want to get the best initial conditions for tonight's global model runs. Even a perfect model (which doesn't exist) sucks if you feed it shite data to start with.

So is this the extra plane being referenced?

Sounds like the models from tonight forward will have all of the weather balloon and extra flight data plugged in, curious to see how this will affect our trough depth and movement.

Basically these models will be the ones to multiply the pucker factor for any given landfall region, at least for the next few days.

Don't be stupid, this isn't the thread for that.

They're clearly going to get as many planes as possible to fly clockwise inside the hurricane to undo the rotation, or at least weaken it. It's really tricky doing this because they have to stop at just the right time, or else you're left with a typhoon instead.

South Florida is now in the cone. Remember, exact landfall is not yet known. But Florida should prepare. I'll explain the steering and timing factors for this storm on ABC World News Tonight with David Muir -- impacts this weekend!

Actually you'd have to fly counter clockwise since a plane pushes wind behind it. So you'd want to fly the direction the hurricane rotates, but faster than the hurricane winds, to put back pressure on it
