Tickles NC and then goes for a reach around into SC

It's like it's going up and down the coast checking all the doors until it finds one that's open.

FYI with imgur files like that one, you just need to change the .mp4 extension to .gif on TD. Works every time.

On a side note for good news, Isaac keeps getting downgraded and it continues to struggle mightily as it moves westward. It's already struggling with the shear in the area and it's only going to get worse for it.

Good. It's dumb that they reused that name so soon anyway.

On Jacksonville, NC forecast for weather.com it has a 3 day forecast, with TS conditions starting Thursday morning, then essentially 24 hours of hurricane conditions, with winds between 100-115 mph.

Can someone explain the discrepancy between the NHC official forecast and the Euro model that our local weatherman keeps scaring everyone with?

In the Columbia area, NHC is showing 2" of rain vs the 10"+ in the Euro.

Seems the tracks are agreeing a bit more and I know that it's a bit of a crapshoot after it comes onshore, but that's a might big difference.

Curious as to why we have zero planes going into the storm currently.

AF308 bailed out real early last run and well nothing since.

One of the true weather geeks here could probably give you a better answer but I think it has to do with the uncertainty of what the storm is going to do once it makes landfall. If it stalls, the rainfall amounts will go way up. But nobody's really sure what it's going to do.
