Played a few times the last couple of weeks at the nearby goat ranch. Shot 76, 74, 71. Putter is really starting to heat up.

A few things that have helped me:
1. Keep the ball more toward my front foot
2. Concentrating on striking the ball on the upswing to get it rolling sooner
3. Wedges are still lacking; need more time in the back yard with a bucket and shag balls

Feel free to add any tips that have helped or hindered your game.

Haven't shot a double bogey since I gave up golf.

I assume when you say wedges and work in the back yard you are referring to pitches around the green?

The biggest tip I can say that has helped my game is use all of your wedges. If you have a LW, don't take it out on every pitch shot. Use your SW/GW or even a 8 or 9 iron to get the ball rolling on the green towards the target on line quicker, it turns into more of a putt.

Hopefully the weather clears up in South Louisiana to get out and play this coming weekend!

Yeah, I just haven't put in the time yet. That 7-9 iron chip is a bitch if you haven't practiced and gotten the feel for it. Lots of runners passed the hole if not

Hurt my back 2 weeks ago. Haven't been able to play. I was striking the ball best of my life too. Really sucks I'm on the DL.

Oh, absolutely. It's challenging to make yourself throttle back and not hit it so hard when you've been flying higher shots further onto the green.

I use a 4i a lot when in the short stuff around the green. Play it lie a long putt. I too have been hot with the putter lately. We got 9 in on Saturday before the rain. I was -1. I am still getting accustom to my new irons (Callaway Apex Pro) I am just not comfortable in my alignment with them.

Almost got these when I was in the market for a new set. Got an outrageous deal on the Cleveland 588 MBs though. I really like those Apexes though.

How come? What's your pre-shot routine?

Can't keep the ball in bounds off the tee box consistantly, and it kills every hole that happens on. If I could cut out the double and triple bogies and more 2 or 3 times every round, i'd be half decent.

I'm smashing my new driver R15 with tour preffered speeder 661 shaft. hit 12 of 14 fairways last weekend's round. unfortunately I shot 87 because I cannot hit a wedge worth a crap. I counted 5 times I had a PW or lower in my hand in the fairway and missed the green every time. a few of those were with 54 or 58 in my hand. a did scramble for a couple of pars but that part of my game is atrocious.

I think I remember you posting about this last year. What's your typical "miss?"

YES. I have recently started leaving my driver in my bag, and not using it because it's not worth using if I hit it out of bounds more often than not. But it's honestly not just on the tee box. My swing is just all over the place.

I started using my 3 iron to tee off, I still hit out of bounds a good bit though.

Shot 88 on Sunday after being 9 over after 5. Putter was on point as usual. Sand game was ok. I've got new irons which I hit shorter than my old ones, but they feel better and the dispersion is tighter, except when I get them going left. Driver distance is improving.

Welp. That there's an issue.
