re: How would you react if your kid were participating in extremely misguided protests?

Honestly, if any of them get to the point of what I am seeing on TV with colored hair, bull nose ring, protesting Israel I will cut them out of the will completely along with cutting off any monetary support in the current. I will still love them but you are on your own.

I love my kids with all my heart but I will do what other parents will not do, cut them off. Stop paying for their stuff stop helping them out etc. I will not enable a mentally unstable person, sorry. Ill leave everything to my family/wifes family and the kids that are working hard.

A large part of our problem today is we enable everyone all the time.

A good friend of mine is dealing with this. His daughter was an all American kid. Got a couple scholarships for academics, soccer and swimming at a northeast ivy league school. I knew immediately when I saw her over the holidays. Blue highlights in hair, talking completely crazy shite. The problem for them is , she graduates next year. She's still very productive. Works and goes to school, gets good grades. You just have to hope she grows out of it I guess. The shite she was saying at Christmas though... completely bat-shite crazy. She ended up storming out of the house the day after Christmas because everybody here were "fascists". Not sure what I would do.

But I raised a winner so there’s zero chance of this happening.

I was actually recently talking with a colleague about this. For these students at these elite colleges with massive price tags that Mommy and Daddy are fully paying, I just can't help but wonder what the parents are thinking.

A lot of these students likely went to private school too, so they paid all of this tuition in private school, followed by massive college bills, all for these students to throw it away so that they could get in the middle of the social media hoopla.

If I were in New Orleans, that student would be immediately at either Delgado or UNO, working at a restaurant, grocery store, rideshare company etc.. If they wanted to go anywhere else, either pay for it themselves or they can use Uber's program with Arizona State to go to school online without tuition (provided they meet the strenuous benchmarks).
