He looked like he was gonna be sick. The cop hung out behind the other cars that showed up. Maybe he was really scared. Idk

Post the name of the cop.

If nothing else, it will get the word out what kind of guy he is. Somebody will know him. His response was worthy of criticism.

I knew I had asthma when I was 6 and knew to take my inhalers. It's not like she's a toddler.

You certainly got me there. I've seen enough from the boys in blue to know what to expect from most of them. Savages.

OP should post his own name as well. So should you.

Sure she can cover her eyes. There's flashing lights and she wants to see what's going on. It's her fault. I'm gonna go home and make her write lines.

I'm not putting any blame on your kid, but you have to understand this could be a potentially life and death situation for your kid, for you and your wife, and as far as the officer knows, his as well. All the officer sees is someone digging around in the back seat. That's immediately going to set off alarms. This cop sounds like a dick, but he did have a reason to be on edge with what he initially saw. He could have approached the situation better than running up and yelling. Everything seems to have snowballed from there.

No way would I possibly mean that she should know to cover her eyes if there are bright flashing lights. Nope, no way I meant that.

A reasonable person would realize that the fact that the mother felt the need to try and put her hand on the kids fact indicates the kid isn't fully capable of managing the situation herself.

none, but I probably should have been multiple times. Thanks to some run ins with good cops I avoided getting what I probably deserved back in college. There are some great ones out there, I'm not saying there aren't.

A reasonable person would also understand the cop's actions as presented in the OP.

How would you handle the situation? quote: Since when is speeding 11mph over a cause for jail.. Yea, I literally meant actual jail. quote: It's not dounchebag. It's called showing a slight amount of compassion.. I'm sure most people that get tickets could think up a sob story. Should they all get out of their tickets?

You said Jail, your words. I'm sorry you feel that showing zero situational awareness to actual real life events is the way to go... And this wasn't a fricking sob story, this was an actual event that took place in front of the officer..

I've got no major issues with what he did accept actually writing the ticket.. Should he have been more aware during the walk up, probably but at night I can give him a pass.. Actually writing the ticket shows how much a dickhead he is in this situation.

I get pulled over for speeding. It's a pretty dark area and the flashing lights are pretty damn bright. My daughter is prone to seizures so my wife immediately reaches back and is attempting to cover her eyes. I remain in the vehicle, because I don't want to get shot. The cowboy sees my wife reaching back and he runs up and starts yelling hands on the fricking dash. I'm trying to explain the situation and he's having none of it. Long story short my daughter starts having a seizure. We both jump to the back. He jumps back and draws his weapon as he's calling for back up.
Back up arrives and finally an ambulance. I'm glad she's ok and we didn't take a few slugs. Protect and Serve cowboys

Way to assess the situation and respond accordingly, dickbag cops

Is it such a stretch to think a parent should be able to tell their 6 year old to cover their eyes with a known medical condition?

The child also wouldn't see the dickbag cops shoot her parents or her pets if she covered her eyes. thats probably a good plan
