I am a...

That was a team of observers we have on the drop zone (remaining very non-specific) who are there to record mishaps should they occur.

And that was not supposed to happen. Period. And heads are (eventually) going to roll for that. Someone will (one day) be on the cover of the Army Times.

Don't they just write it off?

Seems like they could just write that off.
That will not be written off. There will be an AR 15-6 (commonly referred to as a "fifteen dash six") investigation conducted. And heads will roll.

One of those young Soldiers uploaded it up I am sure. Again, not good.

Big time 15-6.

But I heard one of the observers say "I knew it" as if he were aware of whatever the issue was.

If I'm the battalion CO and CSM I'd prepare for
"reassignment"

All three had the same failures from what I was able to make out. They had good canopy and then the vehicle separated from the platform. This was deliberate. And I am seething about it right now.

Yep, and the IO will get the double tap, he/she will also have to do the FLIPL investigation.

In my opinion, absolutely. You simply cannot have that degree of negligence in a unit that prepares the equipment for drop. And all three failures were the same.

Yup. But, on a positive note, the FLIPL is going to be pretty straight forward.

Is time in the stockade a possibility for this?

I am really curious as to what the cause of this was - some E7 or CO not doing his job or some pissed off E4 intentionally sabotaging shite or what.

I'm hoping the slings were defective, still a frick up but better than the alternative.

Would have to ask Ace Midnight what he would recommend for charges. If my I/O brought back the evidence, I would go for a GOCM. Not sure that would lead to Leavenworth (probably not) but I would do my damndest to get them there.

That was idiotically unsafe.

And that was definitely some young 92R who did that. No way you have three loads on three different aircraft have the same catastrophic malfunction. Someone with their ETS "FU" to the Machine (like that idiot who recently took selfies of himself and his goldfish on his last jump).

I have to log off. I am seeing red right now.

173 is out of Aviano but they were in Hohenfels for operation Saber Junction 16. I live in Nürnberg and it was all over the news.
