Snow is not bad…the next day is bad with melting and freezing to solid ice

Don't.

Roads here are not salted like they are up north. Even people in Minnesota can't drive on ice.

Drive slow. Drive defensively.

When you first get started, on a straightaway, lock your brakes and see how long it takes to stop, and how far you slide. Use this information to drive accordingly.

I’ve lived in the north forever. I still do this. Test and respond accordingly.

Slow and careful. Not fast. If sliding remove foot from petal and steering into the slide. Minimal brake.

Call tow truck if the above doesn't work.

Step 1….

Stay home

Step 2….

Avoid the urge to prove you can do it. Stay home!

Drive on the snow. If you can see the road, you can't see black ice.

Stay home.

Stay home. Don’t encourage anyone.

ETA….if you need chains for a few inches of snow you don’t know what you’re doing.

I don't think many people in Louisiana have them, and likewise why would you have them if youve never driven somewhere that warrants having them?

Last snow event i believe there were 3 wrecks by my driveway. Going to sit on my porch drink whiskey and count them tomorrow and Wednesday.

Without snow tires, it’s pretty difficult. More a technology issue than capabilities down here.

Accelerate slowly, light taps pulsating on the brake. Leave yourself a lot of room.

Luckily south La doesn’t have hills. That’s the only place you can get into trouble hitting an ice patch.

Good luck!
