How to approach subleasing w/landlord

Basically tired of living in a house full of strangers. I get along with my roommates fine, but would much prefer to have my own place. Lease isn't up til Jan of 18. How do I bring this up to the landlord without getting a ton of pushback.

Maybe start with, "hello, landlord. I would like to talk to you about subletting."

As long as you find a proper tenant to take your spot and the landlord approves of the person I don't see an issue.

It should be in your lease whether you are allowed to sub lease or not. I'd check that first before approaching the land lord. If it says you can, then just do it. If it doesn't say you can, then I'd approach the land lord.

Read your lease, I'm sure it's already laid out in there.
And if I had to bet, it says no subleasing.

Thanks. Looking for advice/tips from someone who's done it before. Or if you're a landlord how would you want a tenant to approach you.

It most likely states in the lease agreement about subletting. If not, speak with them like a person and state your position. Even offer an opportunity for them to screen potentials.

I've sublet before. I had a responsible person lined up beforehand before contacting the landlord about it.

Just do it and don't tell anyone

Read your lease agreement. Then rip it up and move out and not pay. You'll be fine.

Lol. I just read it nowhere does it say I can or can't. The closest I could find was if I was in the military and got stationed elsewhere I would only have to pay one months rent.

Depends on your landlord - if he/she is reasonable, then generally they'll work with you regardless of whether or not it is in the lease

Is there something in your lease forbidding it? I'd check there first.

Does it day anything about unauthorized occupants?

No. Nothing about unauthorized occupants.

I highly doubt that.
I've never seen a lease that does not specifically state who is to occupy the apartment.

Yes it states that I am suppose to occupy the apt. But you're question was about unauthorized occupants, I didn't see anything about that.

Well...
It says YOU are to occupy the apartment, so...
At least you appear to be renting from a private owner. You'll have more leeway than a big management company. Go talk to them and hope for the best is my advice.

It is a private owner. Never did I think I could just duck out or sublease without permission. I'm really just trying to creat less work for my landlord in hopes of her allowing me to sublet.
