59. Yes, I feel responsible for her to an extent. Only so much I can do though. My father is pretty severely disabled. I feel responsible for him too. I currently live in a different city from them. Have lots of help from family. But this is a big reason why I need to move back long term. I want to take on as big of a share as I am able.

Sounds to me like he's just concerned she's a little too un-PC.

A shame she didn't raise a son who wasn't a puss, then.

My mom had me as a teenager. She postponed college to raise me and my sister and graduated college one year before I started at LSU.

She's the most amazing person that I know. She's still working and active, but I will take care of her in her golden years.

66, she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2013, double mastectomy, 6 months of Chemo, 6 months of radiation. And 3 years later she is still cancer free. I make sure I see her at least 1 to 2 times a week.

Make sure you appreciate your mother and let her know it while you can, life's short.

Mine's 72. She was diagnosed on Christmas Eve almost 20 years ago. She's still cancer free, but some complications from an appendectomy she had in her late 50's have begun to take their toll physically. I try to visit every weekend.

Mines 80 been in skilled nursing facility for 3 yrs. I pay her balance every month to stay in the private home instead of the god awful facilities that most are in. So yes I have much responsibility for her well being.

I'm 49
Mom is 71 (Dad is 70)
We live in different states. We talk on the phone at least once a week. Since they retired, they have learned computers/social media and they are danged good at it .

Both have had strokes within the last year - thankfully, with few lasting side effects. But when the time comes, I will walk barefooted through hot coals to make sure they are both well taken care of and as comfortable as possible.
