Pretty sure dealerships get to charge back to the manufacturer for warranty work. That's not a cost they have to offset.

Years ago I had a front wheel bearing go out in my truck. This particular vehicle had a packaged bearing in the front so you didn’t have to press it out to replace it. I had it quoted at the dealer for $1100. I looked it up and thought I could handle it myself. Bought the part from Autozone for $230.
It literally took me longer to take out my tools than to fix the bearing. Tire off, caliper off, remove retaining clips and rotor off, three bolts. Remove/replace assembly. Reverse above. I shite you not. No YouTube required (although at the time the DIY videos weren’t as prevalent as they are now
) I was seriously pissed that someone asked me to pay $1100 for something that required zero technical skill.
