I had a moving company break a piece of furniture a few months back, the furniture that was broken is antique and it was hard tracking someone down to fix it. We finally found a guy who is willing to fix it...but am not sure if the company will be willing to pony up for it. The supervisor wrote a statement on our receipt accepting responsibility and said that they will pay to fix it and initialed it. I'm not getting good vibes about their willingness to pay...so may possibly look into small claims court as a fallback.

Anybody have experience with this in Louisiana?

Do they have insurance? Try that first.

I prefer Dudley DeBosier. They’re the official injury lawyers of the LSU Fightin Tigers.

Why have ou made such a broad assumption Did you pesent a demand for paymetn and geit it rejected or ignored. This may be handled by the company or referred to an insurer depending on the cost . Just sendd a demand with your supporting documents and await their response.

All My Sons did this to me. Hate to admit it, but I just said frick it. The people who owned the house before me used them to move them out, and when they were moving they slid a treadmill across a wood flood and scratched the living shite out of it. Deep enough to where the wood has to be replaced. I did a ton of nasty emails, phone calls, flooring company calls, etc. Was not going to give up. After all was said and done with, they told me to get an estimate in writing to them and they would pay for it. Problem is, the wood floor I have in my house is discontinued and the new section would basically be a mismatch. Right at the time I was trying to line up a flooring contractor to come give me an estimate, the flooding happened. So there was no way I could get somebody over here for a little section.

Kicker is, I also used them (unknowingly) to move my house (before I saw the scratch), and I had a few bad experiences with them as well. They tried to roll out on me in the middle of unpacking because they had another house to do after mine. I had to chase them out the driveway and call their supervisor to stop them.

Again, the company name is All My Sons. Stay far, far away from this fricking company.

They too, tried to hit me up with a "well, you signed a release..." And to be honest, we did. But...thing is you could go through the trouble of pleading your case in small claims court if you really feel like it is worth it.

Company name is bolded on purpose. Stay away.

Those releases are such a cop out to dissuade people taking action against them.

I'd imagine it barely holds up in court, especially for gross negligence.

Just like how some companies post signs saying they are not responsible for damage that happens to your car, etc.

Bull-fricking-shite. Yeah you are, if it's on your property and your business.

big pita to do unless they have insurance. You will have to pay to file the claim, and even if you win, then you have to get Sheriff's department to harass them into paying or take property, sell it, and pay you. Please research the steps to see if worth it.

they prob won't show up or respond, so you will get a default judgement but then it gets complicated bc a lot if not all of their assets will prob be protected legally through various means.
