One of my kids has been working real hard to get a full 30 gallon trash bag of crushed cans worth these days?

Just give him $10-$20 and throw the cans away. If you take a single bag of aluminum cans to the scrap yard you will destroy his work ethic and lose gas.

Thought the same.
He should melt them and pour them into an anthill. Then carefully dig it out and sell it on ebay as art.
Way more money.

I used to save cans but finally figured it was not worth it. Maybe for a kid though.

They're worth less than the trash bag they're collected in.

Years ago when the city paid for paper and aluminum (now we pay them to collect it), I had a few bags of crushed cans.
I usually just donated the small amount to a charity on their list, but I had so much I figured I'd take the cash this time.
But it was only about $7.40. Then they handed me a voucher and told me to go to another building and wait for a clerk, etc. shite, man, I have to get to work.
There was an old lady who had walked up with some cans, and I asked her if she wanted my voucher. She started jumping for joy and praising Jesus like I handed her the winning Powerball ticket.
Best scrap metal sale I ever made.

Little Rock ran a promotion a few years ago, if you bring 100+ pounds of cans. The price per pound would be $1.

I did that once. I repeat, once.

I did this when I was a kid.
Of course I put rocks in the cans before I crushed them...
