LINK This guy makes them around Opelousas but they look old. I bought a 5ft and a stand for under 2000. Dunno how you could really tell if it was old or not.

Teech. It is very valuable. It is cast iron. I know who you could sell it to.

Interesting
quote:
The local people used to call the Sugar Kettles, "Teches", referring to the kettles for their cooking capabilities. The majority of Historic Sugar Kettles were sent off to melt down for our nations war efforts. While some stayed around, which you can see on some old plantations and people’s lawns, most of them were melted down.

Sent you my phone number. My son did. I’ll have email tomorrow and can contact you that way. I’m locked out on this iPad.
Don’t drill holes.

If it's cast iron, it could be worth thousands. I would be interested in buying it. LINK

I’d say around $3-4k if it’s in good condition. Thats what they were going for when I bought mine about 5 years ago. Can’t imagine prices have changed much.

Need pictures and stand next to it for size comparison! It may be worth $3,50(0)

It’s probably worth a lot more than most fire pits, it’d be interesting to know it’s history. Fire pits are alot easier to find than old sugar kettles

Too big for a stand. Also it’s 80”, not 6’.

Email me and I’ll send pics.

I’m glad this thing will go somewhere else to be displayed rather than be turned into a fire pit.

No kidding. I hated the idea of drilling into it.
Realizing this thing is a literal piece of history was sobering. I just knew I thought it was too nice.

Please post some pictures on here. Have actually been looking for one. I would expect it to be in the 3-4 thousand dollar range. Do you have access to something to load it with?

Here’s the actual kettle.

Looks like you’ll need to have an auction.
