I work at a 25 attorney law firm. I worked far, far less at the firm I was at previously which had 350 attorneys.

But I didn't like being a litigator and wanted to try corporate before I hung up the spurs altogether. I think it may be worse. It has different stressors. Whereas before, my stressors were court requirements, now they are form requirements. And I still have the stress of dealing with idiot clients, partners who don't give a frick about me, and other attorneys.

And now I have the hours to boot. I have billed over 200 hours twice in the four months I've been here. I think I billed that much once when I was at the other firm over the course of 3 or so years. The one month I billed a reasonable amount at this new place was because I had taken vacation to Europe and they had removed me from many of the deals.

Small or big, it doesn't matter. It's the individual firm that matters. And there will always be times when you look at yourself in the mirror and have to answer the question: "Why am I doing this?" I have not been able to find an answer other than my wife would resent me if I quit since she works at least as much as I do and the money is decent. Neither of which are good reasons.

I plan on getting out as soon as I can.

I'm earning a degree that will hopefully lead to a good quality of life job within a firm. Hopefully
