I went from the operations side of healthcare to the IS side, but that was in my mid-20's.

I might eventually go back to operations, but IS has treated me well.

Worked as a secretary in the business field for 13 years. Went to nursing school, graduated and worked as an RN for 32 years.

If I had it to do over again, I would've probably started in nursing. My wife has been transitioning into the field from working at a private school. The career paths are numerous and relatively easy to transition into, the money is good, and the hours are flexible. Great range of practice settings, too, to fit your personality type. She does bust her arse at work, though, and those 12s can be rough. The upside seems worth it, though. She has many co-workers making 6 figures.

ETA: She made the career switch in her mid-late 30s.

Age 30, left Federal Civil Service job to return to school full time. Finished BS in Computer Science at LSU-S a year later (not so difficult when you can count hours from BA at LSU-BR). Worked 20+ years as an applications programmer, now just do jack-of-all IT work.

Vast mind

You can't bet the house on a previous pattern meaning what you hoped. Life is not really like that.
Read the fine print on a prospectus from any brokerage.

JfC, you need to know management, market, competition and product issues.

pattern mapping is bogosity to the max. Best you can hope for is other people buying for the same stupid reason.

A dying concept. A career for life will be an obsolete concept very soon

And you never moved up to manager? Yeah, you just sucked. I don’t blame you. I would have quit too.

Just acknowledge you have a problem and get help before it ruins your life.

Salesmen make more than management at least initially.
