In the past I would have agreed with you, but one of the weirdest things is that now when I do smoke, most of the time, it causes my heart to race and gives me a feeling that I really don't like... And I've smoked for almost 10 years now

Sympathy to you brother

You need to understand that YOU create the conditions......and nothing more.

Clean up your diet, cut back on drinking (hangovers set the stage for panic), and exercise.

Start taking probiotics and daily fish oil supplements with a lot of DHA.

Resist the pharma as it is a bandaid and digs a deeper hole to get out of.

Research breathing techniques and find a good anxiety program to listen to and follow.

MOST OF ALL, don't run from the boogie man. Embrace the fear and let it flow through you......take its power away.

I'm a big strong man and freely admit life gets to me as well. BE COOL!

Thanks Charles, I really know that is good advice but it is hard to follow. I've had people talk to me about meditation before, but I never really knew how to learn how to do it.

Solid advice though

Do some research on sativa vs indica strains and learn how to tell the difference between the two. One tends to help anxiety and the other usually makes it worse.

Yeah man, I know the difference between Indica and Sativa and I'm pretty sure I've had both and both result in the same feeling. It's almost to the point now where I hate to smoke, and that drives me absolutely crazy.

I was actually considering starting a thread on this recently. It appears my daughter (9) may be experiencing this. She has always been pretty introverted, but we noticed recently if we are in a place that is loud or has a lot of people, she almost completely shuts down. One time I hugged her and her heart was racing. She has a hard time explaining it and gets frustrated. The best thing she came up with was "my head just doesn't feel right".

I tried talking with her about it but she tries to make light of it when she calms down. We are planning on seeing a therapist. No way I want to put her on medication unless we have to.

She will be experimenting with weed in the next couple years so this will likely go away on it's own. Just kidding, hope yall figure it out. Sucks to see your child suffer through something like this.

Damn man, that's scary for a child so young. I wish you all the best

That's actually a pretty good way to describe how I feel also. Whatever you do do not get mad at her, and be there to support her when she's feeling like that, trust me it is very scary

You're a good parent.

She's nine. She can learn to overcome and to grow. Pumping kids full of drugs is a major problem in this country.

I hear you. when she first acted like this, I got mad, just thinking she was acting up. It didn't take long to realize she wasn't faking it. I'm hoping the therapy works and I will continue to talk with her to let her know that I am always there for her. I am hoping the therapist will have lots of tips for us on how to help her through this.

Kids and adults. I know there is a time and place for meds...and I don't judge anyone who is on them. For me and my family, we try alternatives first.

I would be so sure about the kidding part. If it feels good and of course peer preasure, she could find some escape in smoking weed. It helped me when I was younger, but only in familiar settings. Now I am helped along with medication.

I was like that when i was a kid. I used to make my mom leave birthday parties and if we were shopping or something i just couldn't handle it. Chuckecheese and the mall were like a torture chamber to me, and no one really knew why, myself included. They got mad, as i think most parents would, thinking i was acting out or being a annoying kid.

I learned some techniques and things that calm me down, and im pretty much fine now, but occasionally i can feel that mood change when im out in public and i have to just leave. First couple times it happened my fiance got mad, but she knows now. If i say i have to go, i have to go. And if I suddenly go dead silent, i'm fine but i just need to be left alone for a few minutes and get my mind under control.

I did try quite a few different medicines. They completely change your personality and brain patterns. You become a completely different person. They killed my creativity and they made working damn near impossible. I became a robot. Sure, i didn't have panic attacks or anxiety but i also didn't have emotions. My world went from bright and full of colors to a black and white malaise with no change. I'd never wish that on anyone.
