I made it to Webelo and quit. Our den leaders were a morbidly obese couple (300+ lbs) so we didn't do much adventurous outdoor activities.

If we had done more camping, hiking, and canoeing, I probably would have continued. A boy can only do so much Indian arts and crafts.

Got Eagle at 14 and moved on to sports and girls. If anything, it taught me at a young age how to set goals and follow thru. And how not to kill ourselves unsupervised in the woods.

ETA: went to philmont and Florida sea base in HS with my younger brother's group. Bad arse experiences, glad I went.

My mother was a den leader in cub scouts. When she had to take care of the other 5 children, dad would take over. Instead of cookies and kool aid its was burgers and corn dogs at the local burger joint. Nobody wanted mom back. Then on to boy scouts. Got kicked out my first year. Was caught eating brownies. :rimshot:
