Ignorance truly is bliss

Ignorance of what? That the world is a dangerous place? That sick, crazy people do sick, crazy thing?

Hell, I learned that on November 22, 1963 at age 12. That was almost 55 years ago.

And now, after all those years of blissful ignorance, here I am. Would I have been any more blissful owning one or even a mountain of guns during that time? I don't imagine so.

Like I said, I have no quarrel with law abiding gun owners. I'm not gonna take your stuff away from you. But damn, some of you seem to be awfully angry and on edge for folks with firepower.

When you're holding a gun, you have the power of life and death in your hands. So relax!

What's sad is your husband was once a cop and now doesn't own a gun. That scares the shite out of me.

Why is that?

He's not anti-gun at all. But the guns he had as a cop...where those issued to him. After he left, spending his own money on guns just wasn't a priority to him.

Being a cop I'm sure he's seen some shite and would want to have a firearm to protect his family.

Irony of ironies, after browsing through this thread I get the strong impression that non-gun owners feel more secure in their beings than do their gun owning counterparts. Human nature: endlessly confounding, endlessly fascinating.

not. I'm all for gun ownership I just wish people would say f**k you it's America I like my guns instead of acting like they need them to defend themselves for when ISIS invades their gated subdivisions.

Learning some actual gun safety would of helped in both of these cases. It is obvious your neighbors had never received any proper firearm safety training or respected firearms. That is something that can be done, and by the way the NRA has been doing this for years (Eddie Eagle Program).

Yeah I understand this, in theory this would be wonderful, but looking at reality, there are gun owners who have guns who do not respect the weapon, there will always be mistakes made, etc.

Look, vehicle accidents kill a lot of people every year and no one is talking about banning vehicles so you just have to accept the reality of things, but if I am just giving my reason why I am not a fan of guns.

I do not own A gun. I have not owned A gun since age 12 when dad gave me a 20 ga. to go with my BB gun. 18 counting the one I bought last week. I'll get at least 1 more before hiLIARy is anointed our official first president without balls, ...literally speaking.

I own 6-8 guns, for one reason: i enjoy them. My favs are my 22 target pistol and my HK 9mm. They just hit where they are pointed.

I live out in the country, we'll be the last folks the government or terrorists / thugs wanna mess with. I'm not paranoid and don't sleep with a pistol under my pillow. The dogs are gonna scare off most anything.

Hunting, target practice, been shooting a long time. I like it, so does my woman and my kids.

I do not own an assault rifle. Every time I get close to buying an AK or AR there's some wacko that drives the supply down. I've shot them and they are a blast.

If we could intelligently restrict selling assault weapons to Islamist zealots (and other zealots), I'm all for it.

Two; one for each hand. More is not necessary unless you're a freak with three hands.
