Your dr can do a liver function test measuring your ALT, AST, GGT, bilirubin, and albumin.

Didn't read the entire thread, so I don't know if your question was answered, but about 5 years ago I was told by my Dr that I could take 800mg of ibuprofen 3 times a day and be ok. Now, that was not long term. That went on for about 4 months until I had my back surgery. I still take 800mg every so often, about once a week, when needed. I never felt any ill effects from it, but I know it'll eventually eat up your stomach.
