How many gifts do you usually buy for Christmas?

Do you buy one for each extended family member, or for each family group? Workmates? Kids?
I usually just buy for immediate family, have a white elephant for extended family when we get together, and have a white elephant at work.
ETA: Add something to my other christmas thread. Still looking for suggestions for gifts.

Before I got married it was just my siblings and parents. Now my wife buys for everyone including family members I'd like to push down stairs. She also buys shite for my employees.

Family tradition is 10 stocking gifts and 10 tree gifts per family member, we all plan the gift buying through the year but I've got about 17 purchased so far that are listed on my spreadsheet.
