Which is why the native Americans were the GOAT. They didn't give a crap about any of this. They didn't need Chevy Tahoes and iPhones to be happy. They respected the world they were given and enjoyed it for what it was.

rising acidification of oceans?

This is just simple chemistry.

Acidification is independent of temperature so we can throw that argument aside.

CO2 levels have without a doubt been increasing. Increased CO2 in the atmosphere leads to increased CO2 in the ocean. The excess CO2 shifts the equilibrium of this reaction.

That end result, the bicarbonate is the disassociated form of carbonic acid. The ocean is basic and is becoming less basic (more acidic). This reaction also pulls free carbonate molecules out of the water which would have previously been available for shelled organisms such as all shellfish and carbonate shelled microorganisms.

I've dove both reefs. Tons of dead coral in the Keys.

interesting...so you saw a lot more dead coral in the keys than at the barrier reef? do you have any idea as to the health of the coral on any other reef?

Until they discovered the fire water. You'd be fine with living in a pre industrial revolution society with no ac, technology, transportation etc? You know that you can right? Buy a piece of land and live in a teepee. Grow your own food, hunt, fish etc.

It's hard to judge really because the Great Barrier Reef is so much more enormous. We would be diving along 30 foot high walls of coral.

The Native Americans were limited by their own technology.

Yeah, and that's also why you see Exxon (and many other oil giants) investing a pretty penny in renewable and clean energy sources.

Eh. Going to have to call bullshite on that one.

It's an implicit argument seen both in common media and scientific literature attributing any and all climate change to be related to AGW.

Never mind that all short and medium term models used to quantify the negative effect of generated greenhouse gases and old enough for us to check the results of against reality have been proven false, with scientists trying to explain the inconsistency.

Because the people saying that we aren't have a vested financial interest in saying that human activity is not having any effect.

But let's not pretend that many of the loudest private proponents also don't have a significant financial interest as well.

And let's not pretend every opposing scientific opinion uncertain of AGW is an oil shill.

It is kinda funny how Big Oil gets demonized in these discussions, but the vast majority of private investment in renewable infrastructure is from them.

coral bleaching ( death sentence for coral)

Not true.
Zooxanthellae and other symbiotic organisms have, in some cases, been found to repopulate some species of bleached corals. The temporal scale and conditions under which this repopulation occurs is not well understood.

The Lion Fish is a bigger threat to Florida Reefs than climate change.
