I wish, we just moved in on the 17th, didn’t think about hiding a key somewhere or giving one to relatives yet

IMO...... food items in a ref./freezer will not rot and start smelling too bad for 4 or 5 days if the door is never opened. This was my experience after Laura.

A freezer should not start smelling real bad for 5 to 7 days depending on how full it is.

After clearing out a ref. or freezer that smells bad, clean all the surfaces really well with soap and bleach. Then if it still smells, sprinkle coffee inside and leave it there for a day or longer. Repeat with more coffee if it still smells.

On my ref. freezer..... some of the "stuff" had leaked out and got under the compartment floor. I took off the floor, cleaned out the stinking stuff. Then I put more coffee. I am still using that ref. a year later.
