Im only upset because they told me i was denied when I wasnt. Had I called today and my credit union said " yep we denied you, heres why" then I would wait til i get my insurance check, paid the loan in half, and THEN refied.

I guess my next call will be to BBB.
BBB is a private company without any real power. I'd call an attorney and have him contact the dealership and threaten a lawsuit. I'm not a legal expert but it seems like there must be something illegal about telling you the bank declined you when they didn't. Get a letter from the credit union stating they told the dealership you were approved at x%.
Edit: I believe companies that run a credit check on you are required to give you a copy of the report if you ask for it. Get the report they ran to see if the score they told you matches what they put on the finance paperwork.

ETA and you must be a shitty driver if you've had 2 head on crashes. Learn to drive and you could have avoided this whole situation.
one was 12 years ago when a 15 year odl with no license ran a red light. This one was a 20 ft wide stream of water going across I-20 at night, and It spun immediately, didn't even wiggle and give me a chance to save, The head on was wiht 4-5 trees. GFY.

I'm glad you survived, but do you need to take a driving class?

It's "way back machine" of course, but my father-in-law pulled a move like this many moons ago. The dealership was a mainline GM car line, with Isuzu trucks, so probably a Pontiac (maybe Buick) - he had a fixed amount. He had already written the personal check out. He was buying new trucks for himself and my brother-in-law - and a used car for my wife and me. (The used car was more than the new trucks.)
They tried to poor mouth him ("We'd have to lose money to sell them for that. I want to move the units, but you have to work with me.") Nope. He didn't budge a penny.
Ultimately, they took the check and delivered the vehicles. Good times...

T boned a girl driving with no license who ran a red light.
Hit a huge patch of running water with cruise control set on 50 in a 70. No, I don't.

1)never buy a new car
2)if you ignore 1), never finance it
3)you should have rented a car home.

If only someone who posts here had posted multiple times the step by step process a potential customer should follow when purchasing a new vehicle ... maybe you wouldn't have been taken advantage of.

Hyundai makes nice cars now. Had a chance to rent one once on a trip out west and I was very surprised at how it performed.

Most of the dealer incentives and rebates you get come from the financing. Just make a huge downpayment and finance a little, or finance and then pay it off right after. i got 5K in rebates, and a lifetime warranty on the paint/body because a hail storm came through the area last year.
Im not upset with the price, just the blatant lies.

I am not a lawyer, but I believe they are supposed to accurately tell you your credit score, and have that loan score reflected in your financing. Them selling you a car based on false financial premise could be considered fraud I believe.
Look up the FCRA.

Yes you do. Only a dumbass sets their Cruise in the rain/on wet roads.

This is an ok strategy but have a legitimate gripe before you do that. Op rushed into a purchase, (you could of got home in a rental car) didn't go thru his credit union because they lady said it was hard work, and he obviously didn't under stand or read thru his loan paperwork. Everytime I bought a car the paperwork was pretty straight forward. Op also didn't use the best available negotiating tactic of walking away from a bad deal.
I put this on the op. You should of walked. Do the refinance and learn from this.

i think offering 8.9% for over a 650 is ridiculous in itself, especially when I know Im closer to 750. I would be in the 8s but up until this spring I was still a " credit ghost" from never using any credit through a 5 year marriage.
