He used to say it all the time in his regular routines. I don't think he was ever really called out on it because his bits were always hilarious.

I've seen Joe List.
Louis gave a frick initially. He tried to ease back into live performances, but some dickhead club owner allowed a guy in the audience to record a brand new set of his and it got plastered all over the internet. There are numerous reasons comedians don't allow recording at random shows on a tour, but there's no need to get into that here.
After his new set was posted online, against his consent, Louis literally said "frick it" and embraced his new reality. As you said, he was still selling out every venue in minutes. The fans spoke. Unfortunately, corona derailed all of that momentum.

I’ve always loved his comedy. He’ll probably be even better now if he’s not worried about the cancel culture mob.

He released a special on 4/4 that you have to order straight from his website. It's worth the price just to see him address the whole 'jerking off' thing.
