You should cook those eggs then feed them to some chickens. That would be brutal.

About Eat By Date - How Long Does Food Last? ... It may come as a shock, but printed food dates are not federally regulated and do not refer to food safety. Thus, it is usually safe to eat your "expired" food after its printed date has passed.

How long do eggs last in the fridge? Fresh eggs will last for at least 66 days from the date they are placed into a carton, this is 3-4 weeks beyond the “best by” date normally stamped on the carton. There are many things to consider with egg safety. To properly answer the question of how long do eggs last, how long are eggs good for, or the shelf life of eggs, a variety of factors must be examined such as the sell by date and how the eggs have been stored.

It may be better in Europe, for I believe they do not wash/rinse the eggs prior to putting them up for sale, which allows non refrigeration

Put them in a pot of water. If they float they are bad/rotten, the egg is breaking down and gasses are being made. If they stand on one end they are still good but getting old. If they sink flat they are fresh.

You will never need a freshness date again.

Put them in a bowl of water. If they float to the top throw them out. If they come up a little bit eat them soon.

(And skip the floating test. Older eggs will have more buoyancy than fresh eggs, but it doesn’t definitively discriminate them as bad)

The reason old eggs float is because of the organic material breaking down and gasses being produced. Yes, older eggs have more buoyancy but if they are floating on top of the water - they are bad. Open it and find out yourself.

Drop them in a pot of room temperature water - if they float, they are bad.

More of a chance of spoiled eggs in this house than spoiled kids

It’s not ww3 for taco night - it’s more like a buffet bc I have to make so much (my kids don’t fight too much)- you could show up and I probably wouldn’t notice

So are floating eggs really inedible?

i dunno. i’ve done it...i won’t lie.
i’d crack em and do a sniff test.
praying for no funky smells since it seems like they might have floated- judging by your last post.

taco night got scary at my house.
still probably would get a little slappy if mom makes them and all us kids were back home.

Bookmarked for later. I've got some eggs in the fridge approaching their expiration date.

You can go weeks past the date. If they smell bad, they are bad. Pretty simple.
