How long before we will have robot bodyguards to protect us from....

violent people when we are in dangerous areas. I don't mind simply carrying, but it would be nice to have the technology to scan the area for possible firearms as I walk or drive.
I don't expect a robocop bodyguard anytime soon, but there should be some carjacking preventive technology in cars within the next 15 years, I would think.
Now I know there will be some liablity issues, but i hope this doesn't prevent us from protecting ourselves.

Cars have automatic locks when you're not in park. Unless you stop and manually unlock your car, you have extremely small chance of being carjacked. Use common sense and millions of dollars of research and time could be saved.

Honestly I'm just going to not leave the house without wearing a bullet proof vest and carrying at least 3 guns.

At the end of the day i would rather trust my judgement and equipment to protect my life or end someone else's vs a fricking robot.
