Here's an interesting article describing some militia hijinks in Mississippi during Katrina:

What the article doesn't tell you is that these dipshits actually broke into (busted out the front windows) one of the only schools left mostly undamaged from the storm in order to commandeer the building and severely hampered real emergency personnel from setting up triage units in the building.

Back in the 1970's when the New Orleans Howard Johnson sniper incident happened, locals showed up with deer hunting rifles to help the outgunned police.
