If you magically made all guns disappear from the USA, our murder rate is still substantially higher than Japan's.

We also have a minority in this country that condone and celebrate violent behavior.

How many samurai sword deaths though?
Nope...they kill people with Sarin Gas, instead. Much more effective than samurai swords, and you don't have any blood to clean up....well, you do have to clean up puke, but no blood.

Yea that would totally work in America since Japanese and American cultures are so similar. The most important thing in the world to a Japanese man is to bring honor to his family and, conversely, not to do anything that would dishonor his family name. I'm sure your average gun murderer in America cares just as much about his family's reputation.
99% of America's problems have to do with our culture.

yep i was going to point out the polite lines of people waiting for water stretching for a 1/2 mile and standing patiently for hours or a day for it to arrive after the tsunami and nuclear plant meltdowns.
vs...
SUPERDOME THUNDERDOME after Katrina

Yep. Let's compare the amount of young men raised by single mothers in America v. Japan. Yes, guns are clearly the problem. Our culture is the greatest in the world. We are a beacon of hope and everyone wants to be like us.

I'm sometimes amazed at the bigotry and casual racism this board allows, but nonetheless the myth of the peaceful Japanese is exactly that. A myth.
The Japanese police is notorious for labeling murders as suicides, for various reasons. LINK
Another factor in the "low" crime rate in Japan is the Yakuza, who are so intertwined in the fabric of Japanese society that it's difficult to say that they even have a low crime rate at all.
And for me it is difficult to essentialize a group of 100 million people and say that they are culturally homogeneous. I couldn't say that for a group of 100 million white Americans as well.

Also I'm growing annoyed at the liberal tendency to look to other developed countries and ask why we can't be like them in certain ways. It is usually not a useful comparison and it involves almost intentionally misunderstanding the way other countries work in order to fit an argument about the way America works. I find it dishonest.

Then, head over to a hospital for a mental test and drug test (Japan is unusual in that potential gun owners must affirmatively prove their mental fitness), which you’ll file with the police. I'm good with this
Hey Sarge, what part of .."Shall not be infringed" do you not understand..or do you simply choose to ignore that?
