I was born in July of 1981 and have never considered myself to be a millennial. Hell I never knew what Microsoft excel was until Intro to Computer freshmen year at Auburn. How the hell am I a millennial?

Millennials were first thought of as being those that would graduate high school around 2000.

80's are really more like Gen Y.
90's are Millennials
00's are Gen Z

I think the last of the millennials are in high school (ie David Hogg) with Gen Z starting high school right now.

The original way these generations were conceived of and named is not congruent with reality. Also, 'generations' are shorter than ~20 years now.

1977 - 1983 are their own generation, xillenials. Too young to be generation x, too old for a millennial.

Most of the best people in my industry are 77-83...it's the right combination of old and new. It's the Oregon Trail Generation.

Being a millennial, but not identifying as a millenial, is so millennial.

Most of my classmates are exceeding beyond their years. Earning more than gen x and getting promoted above.

It should really include 84 and 85 as well. No one my age (33) that I know fit the description of a millennial.

Worrying about how you fit into a pointless classification proves you are a millennial

That’s a bit of a transition period up to about 88 or 89.

All those people are old enough to well enough remember a time before household internet, were deeply impacted by 9/11 and the wars, and were teens or twenties when smartphones became widely available. Probably the big difference between an 80 or 81 vs a 88 or 89 is the impact the Recession had on their careers.
