The self checkout lines in Chicago require thenself checkout girl to come over to enter the number of bags used for bag tax. I ain't going to lie. But it's impossible to get their attention. And when I tell them why and they look pissed/confused

The Sam's I go to has recently added a pile of self checkout lines which I love but apparently the average person does not. Thus the cashier lines are now huge.
Thankfully I just hop into the empty self checkout and head on my way while the other folks stew in their massive line.

The self checkouts in Walmart takes forever.
You scan and item and you have to wait 5 seconds to scan the next item.

Check this shite out - Amazon Go. It is a grocery store with no cashiers, no self checkouts, just grab your shite and go.
Now that they own Whole Foods, I’m hoping they’ll integrate this into the stores.

I don't blame the cashiers. I don't really blame floor level management but they should be more aware when problems start building.
No. They have plenty blame to carry.
Ever use one of those carry baskets and plop it down on the belt. Seems like the vast majority of the time, the checkout person will remove each item from the basket, one by one without scanning after touching each item. Then after emptying the basket, and placing it wherever the frick it goes, only then will they begin grabbing each item one more time for the purpose of scanning it.
They intentionally choose to touch each item twice. That doubles the checkout time. Management is apparently perfectly ok with it, even in the express line.

You're just gonna have to wait a couple days for that avocado toast.
My God, Man! What are we...animals? He wanted his avocado toast that. day. Is it too much to ask that he get it? I think not. This is America, dammit! and we are not apes!

If they made a special line for food stamps it would help a lot.

Checkout line will be extinct in a few years.
Amazon already has worked on a store that uses an app to charge for anything you've taken off a store shelf.
Walmart has the car side delivery
Sams has the pay as you shop deal
Amazon is getting pretty good at delivering groceries
