Seeing the BS about the circle sign debacle made me want to share a video I watched yesterday on 'Fake News'.

I bet this thread would get more traction on Polly board.
It would certainly get more upvotes.

That was dumb. I’d rather watch a video of two kittens.

Yes. For mental health, please unplug and read books, walk in nature, talk with real people, cultivate positivity, spend time quietly alone. These would be a start, anyway.

Every totalitarian regime in history has used fake news. You think the Soviet Union had articles written about the millions of civilians Stalin murdered? Hell no, they were (and still are) calling him the hero of WWII.

makes some good points.
However, while both sides are compartmentalized, and residing in bubbles, only one side is silencing the other.

Pretty much all political reporting in the early part of our country was all fake news. It was essentially each side getting people to write trash about the other side. There was no expectation of fairness at all.
If you study American politics at any school they’ll talk about it.
Fake news is not new

Fake news isn't about fairness. It is about stories that claim to be news which are 100% false but presented as true. There is no fairness in the MSM but that does not make what they report actually fake.

Yep, my BA is in political science. But who said fake news is a new phenomenon? Not me.
But let’s not forget the delivery mechanisms that drive fake news and propaganda today are light years faster (nearly instant) and more accessible for everyone than they were 200 years ago.
The fact that it is everywhere alone is reason enough to unplug from all of it. The fact that it is all virtual BS is not a reason that we need to continue to digest it.
