Actually shanks made, I've seen one of these ladle scoop broken off then end and it sharpened petty damn good on the cement.
After Katrina I saw a guy walk around tent city behind i10 and broad overpass carrying one of these and stashing it in his pants leg. True story

IIRC when my Dad was at Guantamano back in the 90s there was a prisoner who used a plastic spoon that he sharpened into a knife.

I can take a cigarette filter and a lighter and turn it into something that will slice up a coke can. Pretty sure it would slice open a jugular also.
