1. Modernize our infrastructure, all of it. Roads, power, water, sewage and drainage.

2. Reform our public school system and stop funding private Catholic schools through voucher programs.

3. Legalize marijuana and decriminalize most other drugs and tell the Sheriff's
and DA Associations to frick right off. Stop prosecuting people for possession, making it hard for them to participate in the workforce and treat it as a health problem. Send addicts to rehab and counseling, removing the issue from the criminal justice system.

4. Run slumlords out of both Nola and Baton Rouge who refuse to adequately maintain their rental properties causing them to become eyesores and health hazards in the community.

5. Simplify our tax code that is infuriating to navigate and unfair to poor, middle class, and upper middle class citizens.

6. Stop letting the insurance industry regulate itself in Louisiana and screwing citizens with ridiculously high rates

Taxes - we have one of high income tax rates for individuals and corporations. We also have a FUBAR tax system where companies get constantly audited by the state and local assessors and requires companies to file returns for every parish that they operate. Furthermore, we are still one of the few states that has a franchise tax which is so fricked up that it discourages capital investment

public schools worth attending

I honestly believe this goes towards the taxing structure. Louisiana has a state income tax, but the lowest property taxes thanks to the largest homestead exemption in the country.

I know people hate the idea of still having to pay taxes on a home you're supposed to own. I know alot of people look at the high property taxes in Texas and say "Hell no. We don't want that in Louisiana."

But if you look at it from a funding mechanism, those high property taxes stay LOCAL. What does that mean? Much nicer, maintained and well-funded public schools in those communities, and nicer local amenities. You have that, companies want to local close because they know their workers will be happy.

As someone who moved from Louisiana with kids, previously paying state income tax, low arse property tax, but also sending kids to the local private school vs. now no income tax, much higher property taxes, but no need to pay for private school and enjoying the much nicer local infrastructure...it's a no-brainer.

When your local funding depends on having to beg a centralized government at the Capitol every year for peanuts to be thrown back down, you become much more beholden to those state government politicians. Don't like the way your local taxes are being spent? Much easier to show up after work to attend your local school board or local city council meeting.

was IBM a good start tho? Because from my understanding it’s a handful of white collar workers managing dozens of fresh out of college Is majors and Indians over here on H1Bs. And as soon as the fresh out of college IS majors get an ounce of experience to out on a resume they are gone.

LA spends way too much on education compared to the results.

Spending and taxation isn't the problem.

LA's biggest problem in attracting white collar jobs.

It can't compete with Texas.

Kellogg is based in a city not much larger than Monroe.

Monroe used to have a few companies based/heavily situated there. A lot of the La ones have been absorbed (re-centering management elsewhere) or straight up left. As many have stated, its a combination of many things that all boil down to years of corruption and short sighted/bad political maneuvering.
