Contraceptives.
The workers have more money to buy products to prevent pregnancy so it doesnt interfere with work.
Work isnt the reason birth rates are going down so please spare us.

I've been beating this drum for years, even before I had kids of my own. If you make it more difficult for productive people to have kids, the only people having kids will be the unproductive dregs. People who wake up at 11am and fight in Walmart don't need parental leave.

Congrats on not taking advantage of your full compensation. What other money do you not take?

You and the others in here railing against this are the same types who put work over family

and wonder why kids are so misguided these days.

Jesus. It’s threads like these that think younger generations have the right idea when they don’t give 2 shits about company loyalty when there are so many mangers out there that don’t reciprocate.
How do you even recruit people to your company? “Hey come join us. We offer X benefits, and X time off, but don’t you dare use them because we’ll ding your performance reviews for using the benefits we offered. Screw your family and your heart attacks, you work for us dammit. Don’t be such a pussy.”

I can’t imagine working in an environment where a person can take 3 solid months off and not have it impact their pay or at least their variable pay portion.
I hire people who want to chase bonuses and will chew their arm off to max them out.

Some people have more than one kid
There’s probably a bit more to than sitting around with the wife if it’s your third kid under like 7 years old

It's almost as bad as the "unlimited" PTO scam

This is a great question. It is something that came up recently here.
We have an employee who is on her fourth child in her fourth year of employment,
She takes off the 90 days for maternity leave, but gets pregnant within the first month or two, and 9 months later she’s doing her maternity leave once again….

Every somewhat "successful" middle class couple I know has had just one child.
I know a few people who aren't middle class or what I would call "successful". They all have had at least 3 kids.
And by "successful", I mean just really run-of-the-mill middle class that don't live paycheck to paycheck..

She must be an outstanding employee if your company is actually bothered by this and hasn't found any legit reason to terminate her employment in all that time.

Yall getting played but good on her for being a fertile Myrtle.
Its happened to eveyrone. In 2012 we hired a chick and within the first week or two we found out she was pregnant. This was a more strategic role with more required experience, so it was a bit frustrating. We survived.

cuts both ways. My old boss used to joke about encouraging employees to buy boats cause there was no more motivated employee than one in a financial hole
a parent with 4 kids isn't going to frick up their income or else they'll be on the street

Couldn't they be trying to avoid a wrongful termination lawsuit?
I imagine employers walk on eggshells these days.
We had an employee that "borrowed" about $20k in company media equipment and cameras to use for their personal weekend wedding photography business....
When she was charged and terminated, she cried for racism because she's Asian. This dumb bitch stole $20k in equipment and still played the victim. A tree limb upside her head would've been good.

How are they getting played good? I highly doubt she's being paid for all that leave. She still needs to pay her portion of her insurance to keep it. Besides having a name on the payroll, what is the real negative effect here? (and again, if her employment is negative, how have they not gotten rid of her yet?

That’s awesome. We need more productive people pumping out kids!

Yeah, unless you have enough leave time, it should become leave without pay.

Looking at good career having, educated people I know well (cousins, family friends, hs friends, college friends, etc.) ages 25-35, most have just one kid or maybe two

Wait what?
I live in one of the most expensive zip codes in my state and most of the families at my kids’ school have an absolute minimum of 2 kids. I’m bang average at 3 kids it seems.
