You have an antiquated view of drinking in Europe as I experienced it for 3 years (Ansbach, Germany; Seville, Spain; London, England).

Alcohol consumption largely divides on social, economic, and generational lines versus borders or hemispheres.

I drank with the sole purpose of getting drunk practically every weekend (thurs-sun) from 15 till about 25 or 26. It was usually 6 or 7 cocktails with multiple shots thrown in over the course of the night. I sometimes puked(depending on how many shots and of what), I rarely blacked out, but it did happen from time to time. I passed out often.

I wouldn't consider this an alcoholic, at least not in New Orleans. It was just what you did with your friends in S.La.

I think as long as you're drinking from a good place or to have a good time its probably ok. If you're doing it to kill pain or escape from something, you need to deal with the real problem.

f you are on the small side, your tolerance might be low...i can sit around the pool all day drinking beer (not pounding them) and not get shitfaced.some females are trashed after 3 beers

Size isn't the issue for me. But my tolerance is much lower nowadays compared to when I lived in Nola. But I've never been good at handling hangovers.

People function as alcoholics all the time. Holding a job (at the very least) isn't difficult at all for people who drink all the time, so long as they limit the drinking to after-hours.

I almost never feel bad the next day because I always down a ton of water at night. I'll drink however much I want to before then, though I usually never get too torn up. Just good and drunk, though.
