I say it the messed up way like the locals do because I was led to believe that's how they say it. Even though it's a real person's name with an established pronunciation.

Now, when Ole Miss folks say LaFAY -ette, I ignore them because frick them.

I feel like I use Louie-ville and Lou-uh-vuhl interchangeably for some reason.

Do I need to bump the thread about the Louisiana nutria tossing competition. Glass houses bitch.

The ENTIRE world says Versailles the right way. ONLY Kentucky says it the wrong way. The town was named after Versailles, France in honor of General Lafayette. But your fricking hick asses think the way you say it is correct. Nope. Yall are just dumb and CAN’T say it correctly and it stuck.

Same with Louisville. Named after King Louis XVI. Yall fricked that name up too for the same reason. Too stupid to say it correctly and it stuck.

Both towns named in honor of a French city and French King. Both pronunciations fricked up and you actually disrespect both places by saying it the way you do.

First time I heard of Versailles, KY I was told how yall say it. I thought someone was playing a joke on me. Nope! That’s how they say it. WTF?
