How they act around others and how others act towards them.
In other words, if I am introduced to someone, I pay attention to the body language and what happens once they are introduced.
It really depends and its usually a per basis situation. If someone checks out on the first things that are noticeable, then I go to the secondary things.

Usually by arbitrary and hypocritical standards...

By people's intelligence or lack thereof. I don't do stupid very well. I really don't do ignorance very well (where people argue based on stupidity and refuse to give up even after their stupidity is pointed out).

Probably.
I'm in airports and airplanes a lot. People that stand up and plow through rows ahead of them when the plane lands, or I hear them say their group number and jump in a higher one anyway, or that bitch loudly about something that impacts everyone around them, deserve a punch to the dick and/or count.
People that take forever to leave a parking spot they notice someone is waiting on, or take a slow, terrible angle to cross in front of the car, frick em.
I don't treat them poorly at the time, because I'm not trashy, but I judge the frick out of them.

well if we're being serious.
How the treat others, is the only way I measure people.
but this is the OT, not real life

Also, I pay attention to how someone post on a message board. If they tried to make jokes about the same thing over and over, they are an instant idiot.

I get such an urge to publicly embarrass people that treat others like shite in public, whether it be service folks or just another citizen during some encounter. Especially when I have enough info to know the a-hole is totally in the wrong. I have friends that are totally different from each other, but I'm pretty sure they all share the trait of being reasonable and courteous in public settings. It's a deal breaker for me.

Nah, truth be told I don't judge people because that's just being an a-hole

Lies, we all judge people, whether we realize it or not.

By their manners, the use of common courtesy, or lack thereof.

Wouldn't that just be 'fragments '?
Seems if they are one, they can't be the other.
