I remember that thread but for some reason it got whacked. He was leaving from Brazil flying across the Atlantic to somewhere in Africa nonstop. Some kind of twin engine prop plane.

My neighbor and myself sent an airplane to Thailand a couple of years ago in a shipping container.

Military aircraft - most mid air refuel if they aren't the big long range one.

Commercial - they fly light, fill it up with fuel completely, and assemble some of the seating at the destination country. They also often stop in Anchorage and a couple of other places to refuel.

How the short range planes get out of Asia full of product is where the real money is at.

I follow capt bob and it's really interesting. they repossess planes but also move planes that are sold from one company to another that need to be repainted or retrofitted for another use (passenger to cargo, etc). Through watching him i discovered there's an airport in new iberia that they do these retrofits. it's crazy. he'll pick up a plane from some random arse place and fly it over then he lands in the berry and says "ok, lets go get some crawfish..." pretty cool.

and it's not hidden. it's right off hwy 90, just need to look for it. they have an 8300' runway in the middle of a cane field.

there's a paint shop at the NI airport, probably the same one, that had the contract to repaint United Airlines entire fleet back in the 90s when they changed their color scheme

Where to from Alaska?

Airport hop through western Russia?

I understand that the easiest way is over the North Pole for some flights but there may be no airports with commercial fuel depots this far north in Baffin or Greenland.

There was a thread on here a couple of years ago where a poster on here ferried a King Air to Africa. He started intending to cross the Atlantic from Brazil but abandoned that plan. He flew it up the coast and crossed the Northern Atlantic and flew down Europe. I saw on Flight Aware that the plane made it but never a post from the guy.

Don’t they paint 747s at that airport?

There’s some larger planes there if you look on Google maps. Maybe so.

AVEX started operations in 1990, specializing in painting of large commercial aircraft for major airlines and freight carriers. Today, we are an established leader with a great reputation, an impressive tenure in our painters, and an excellent track record of more than 2600 aircraft painted. Our aircraft paintings are accomplished in state-of-the-art paint hangars, capable of accommodating a 747-400 aircraft, where our equipment and processes are in full compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations. The work is relentlessly performed by our team of dedicated pros (as we call our “paint crew”) on a “24/7” basis, ensuring the aircraft are completed in the industry’s best turn times and quality. Our team of supervisors and managers are homegrown — they started as apprentices and are now veteran leaders of our next generation of painters. We developed “best-in-class” and fully scripted processes for each paint job, allowing us to precisely establish the state of the project at any moment. We value the opportunity to paint your aircraft and turn them back to you with the distinctive, pristine and protective colors that define your flight operations.
Neato. I wonder if they offer tours. I’d love to see that in person. Maybe if I bring my kids they’ll let me in for a tour

Wasn't a poster ferrying a Beechcraft to Africa a while back? I wonder if he made it.

They just take off and do a holding pattern while the Earth rotates below them.

You land hop. My dad brother and I flew a King Air 200 from Germany back to LA many years ago. The route was Germany - Scotland - Iceland - Greenland - Newfoundland - Maine - Tennessee - LA

It was quite the adventure
