Not having any experience with that, my statements are based off of assumptions.
First, if "your friend" is looking at sites like craigslist or backpages, I would think that would be a little too risky. I am sure there is a way to tell if someone is legit or not, but I am sure law enforcement use those sites to post fake ads in hopes to catch people (which I still don't understand. Is it illegal to give someone money and then that person just happens to have sex with you? Isn't being a prostitute more illegal than being a customer or one? Either way, it should not be illegal IMO).
Anyway, but I would imagine there is a way to do the deal in a "legal" way. Someone post an ad saying they are available to spend time with people who make an appointment and that a donation of a certain amount is required. That person can set the money down on a table or something and then the escort or whatever can just take the money of the table. That way there was technically no exchange of money between hands. Someone set down money, another person picked it up.
Personally, if I were to run a brothel, I would make it a legal cookie company. A cookie would be equal to 30mins of time and each escort would be the name of a cookie so someone can call and say I would like to order 2 double chocolate cookies, that would be they want one hr with the escort who is listed as double chocolate. She delivers two cookies to him.. One cookie would be like $150 so for two cookies it would be $300.
He gets his two cookies, which he pays $300 for and what happens between the customer and the delivery person after that is between them
