Don't be, I've never had to think about how bail bonds work.

But maybe you have.

It’s elementary math. There’s a lot of things I am educated on that I have never had to use.

If you are too ignorant to do a simple google search then you are beyond help.

Hold up Mr. 43 posts. There is a required 9:1 ratio of shitposts to useful information on tOT. If the ratio of posts lean too far to the useful the fricking hamsters die of exhaustion. If you complain about tOT keeping the ratio correct you will move to the 10:0 ratio and nobody will ever provide you useful information again.

The 25k is the bondsman's take.

Your question was answered on the first page. That’s pretty good results that you shouldn’t bitch about. If you want better than that you’ll just have to use google next time.

What did this “acquaintance of a friend” do to deserve a $250K bond?

If you friend expects that $25k back, what’s in it for the bondsman? Funsies?

IME unless someone has a whole list of charges they were arrested for at once (committed at different times) or some crazy flight risk it is almost always drug manufacturing or trafficking. Bail eligible murder and certain kidnapping cases are the only ones I can recall repping people bailed at the 1/4 million level.

By the way, I bought my Sub date (116610LN) right before the update and I’m glad I did. Would’ve liked to compare it to a SD4K but was impossible. Thanks for your help

What do you mean 10 % ? When I was getting away from the bounty hunting part of it all years ago it was raised to 12 % in Louisiana, the judges had to get some $$$

12% and you do not get it back. It is an insurance premium that you will show up. If someone has 250k in equity in a piece, or several pieces of property, they can put up the property. When trial is over the lien on the property is removed. You can file for a bond reduction, your lawyer can, and if you are a first time offender and you didn’t kill anyone you can get the best nd lowered. The key is to hire a local attorney in the parish where the accusations come from.

Depends on the state. LA has the unusual state add-on of 2% which most states don't have. But if his numbers are correct then it is one of the states that are still customary for a 10% bond. SC is normally 10% with a max of 15%, GA is 15%, NC is 15%, VA is 10-15%, FL is 10%, MS is 10% and TX is 10-15% those are the only ones I know off hand

If you give 10% to a bondsman, 100% of that is gone... never to be seen by your buddy again.

EXACTLY
What is paid to the bondsman is actually called a fee. The bondsman pays the actual bond and is the only one that gets money back. That's how they make their money, off of the fee.

I’ve never had to deal with a bail bondsman, but I was under the impression you pay them the 10%, but if you don’t show up for court you owe them the full bond...and they will hunt you down to collect.

Either way, the 10% is gone.
