An acquaintance of a friend recently had to post bail of 250k to get out of jail to await trial. I'm told he had to come up with 25k to post bail.

Assuming he stands trial and of course shows up, will he get back part of his 10% back or is it all gone no matter what?

I hope somebody shows up on here that knows for sure but I'm under the impression that that money is gone.

Should get it back. If he doesn’t show, bail is forfeited. It’s a security to make sure his arse gets to court.

ETA: LOL

It is an honest question, bud.

My friend is under the impression that his acquaintance will get at least part of the 10% back, but I'm thinking it may be otherwise.

If you give 10% to a bondsman, 100% of that is gone... never to be seen by your buddy again.

If you use a bail bonds place they keep the 10%

If you pay 100% yourself you get it all back if you show up to court

You have trashy friends to get hammered with a 250k bond.

Bail bonds are the absolute worst bonds you can buy. Rate of return absolutely sucks, would not recommend.

I've cleared 250k bond with 9 mature plants and 9 seedlings under 1 foot tall. $250,003

He should have.

But he is apparently in a bad place mentally.

Can you read with a minimal level of comprehension?

I don't know the guy, only heard about him from someone casually acquainted with him.

Thanks for your answer. That is what I suspected.

My friend is under the impression that his acquaintance will get a chunk of the money back.

The amount one pays a bail bondsman is the fee. Nothing comes back even if you show. Now there may be bondsmen that work differently but I have never run into them though sometimes they charge less than 10%.

I don't know how many times a client has asked me about this and thought they got it ALL back. They apparently think bail agents work for free.

The story is EXACTLY like I posted it.

When I started this topic, I knew there would be some low life replies.

And yours is one of them.

GFY.
