What’s the story of how your parents met? How did they come to know each other and get into a relationship?

I’ll start. My Mom is originally from Louisiana, but moved to Virginia in the 80’s. There she met my father, who in the 70’s had immigrated to the United States from the Middle East. Their meeting was totally by chance, or maybe it was meant to be? Anyway, that’s how I came along.

What’s your story?

My mother was a hamster, and my father smelled of elderberries.

They met in high school. My dad still remembers what she was wearing the first time he saw her. They were married for 64 years until my mother died last spring.

Mine knew each other growing up in neighboring parishes but got serious at LSU. She was music major; he was pre-law. She was an only child; he grew up in a family of 5. They had six children, I'm the 5th.

Both worked at the California Hotel in Vegas. Apparently my dad rizzed her up when he wasn't smoking weed with Binion's son on the roof

Dad knocked mom up at LSU in the early 70s. They got married and tried to make it work. They had more kids, but it ultimately didn't work out.

They'd have probably never gotten married if they'd have dated awhile. They are both good people, just polar opposites.

Mom met him at a drive in and he promised her a month worth of appointments at the beauty parlor. Never got the attraction. Here I am

Dad had graduated Baylor and did a 4 year stint in the Army after. He and mom were from a town in SWArk as is most all our family tree. Dad was on leave or some such and hanging out downtown with a friend and saw a girl walking looking into a store. He says, damn, who is that? Friend says, that's my cousin ___. Dad said he was all blah blah and going to marry that girl. Mom's cousin told him he doesn't know shite about PaPaw then. LSS, mom was a Sr. in HS that day. Dad was 26. PaPaw did not approve but here we are

Movie theater here in Ellic. My dad was home on leave from the Navy. He went to a movie and my mom worked the ticket booth. He bought his ticket and invited her to come sit with him after she was done. She did. They were married 6 months later…

My mom from NOLA saw an ad in the paper for teachers in Brownsville, TX.

My dad from the Corpus Christi area saw the same ad.

I think they dated because they were the only non-Hispanic teachers at that school.

Mom always said she won't Dad in a game of Monopoly.

Dad worked with Mom's brother in law. Mom was still in high school, dad was six years older and worldly, he had spent two years in West Germany with the Army. My grandmother wouldn't let them officially date at first, so mom, her sister, and brother in law would have game night at my grandmother's house and invite dad out to be the 4th player, typically for Monopoly.
