Most kids smoked Marlboro reds in my formative years. One guy started smoking Marlboro Lights, which I think were new at the time. I asked why he switched, and he said nobody would bum his Lights. Smart.

I knew only one person each who smoked Winston or Salem, yet their ads were everywhere in magazines. Those brands must have been big in other parts of the country.
