My veins have sorta faded back due to chemo. The doctor said that it was normal, and I was surprised at how easily the oncology nurses at BR General could find a good vein. That was just for blood draws, I had a port for the chemo and was disappointed they could not siphon blood out of that.
LabCorp wasn’t too bad, come to think of it, the one by BR Clinic. I’ve been to so many different places over the years.
Never had arterial gas test done.

I have blood work done with my six month checkups and refill visits. I have found it to be pretty unpredictable, even with the same person. I’ve been told that I’m a fairly difficult stick, so I don’t complain. The last two were completely painless, and I’m thankful.
I had such a bad experience donating blood about ten years ago that I don’t do it anymore. Obviously, drawing a pint is much more time consuming than getting a sample for labs. I don’t know what this chick did, but it was super painful. By the time the draw was complete, I was so nauseated that I really thought I was going to puke.

Skill and hydration both play a big part in blood draws. If you're dehydrated the veins are smaller and more likely to roll or collapse making it harder for the phlebotomist or nurses to do their job, resulting in issues for the patient. Hydration is one thing we can do for ourselves and the phlebotomist.

I go to be drug tested for work are the very best. It’s all they do and you can’t even tell when they stick you.
You have to get blood drawn to get drug tested for work? I would have to object to that….

My wife used to do it a lot. She says it’s like any other skill. The more you practice the better you get.
My wife says the same thing....and the first few after being off for a few days are not as good as the ones before going on vacation.

I did not know this. I do seem to be perpetually dehydrated. I don’t drink enough water or fluids.
