Right on. I average about 18$ an hour with my tips. Girls average between 23-25

Reading this thread it seems like the restaurant biz is a whole industry run on the public television business model. Those who want to voluntarily pay more than they have to for whatever reason take up the slack for those who don't.

Is it true that in Europe tipping is not nearly the way it is here? I've heard/read that but don't know if that's true or just a tale.

20% is standard, poor service usually about 10%

Tip is already included, but the service is severely lacking compared to here. That is my experience, they come take your whole order and then you don't see your waiter or waitress again until your food comes out.
So if you're someone who guzzle your beer, water, or coke, then you may sit with an empty one for awhile.

I've had horrible service more than a few times...

Twice at Chiklis in Gonzales which is why I no longer go, like one time our waiter "forgot" about us.

Only other places I've had truly horrible experiences were Ruby Tuesdays, Joe's Crabshack, and Santa Fe in Thibodaux. I see a trend in these places though, probably why I stick to local establishments like Chimes now.
