I remember a flight where my parents sent me out to California to stay a week with my grandmother when I was about 10 years old (around '90). This was the very end of smoking on planes and they had two different sections. They had some kind of program since I was flying alone so young were a flight attendant was supposed to be watching me. At some point I started wondering around the plane and figured out that the non smoking section that I was in was packed, but that the smoking section was half empty. I ended up finding a whole row that was empty in the smoking section and I laid down and went to sleep. The flight attendant ended up finding me asleep there. Good times.

It wasn't too bad since the planes were rarely full due to the cost of the tickets.

You could spread out and the seats were more roomy. Southwest Airlines Stews wore hot pants and weren't bad looking.

I wish I could go back in time.

True dat - and they even gave you little 5-cig packs. But they wouldn't let you smoke cigars.
