How bad is bringing your own birthday cake to a restaurant?

The restaurant is Galatoire's and they don't have a birthday cake on their dessert menu.

Shouldn't be a problem at all.

if they don't offer it, i wouldn't worry about it. You won't be the first, or the last.
People that don't like it, frick em

It's definitely acceptable if its a large(ish) group IMO. If it's just a small group it seems like it would be weird.

make sure the waitresses sing that royalty-free "happy happy happy birthday to you" song like at red lobster

Just call them. Doubt they care

I know a group of people that brought a cake to Galatoire's in Baton Rouge. They didn't have any issues with it.

It's not uncommon, for the exact reason you stated. Sometimes restaurants will charge 'cakeage', like corkage, but it's usually reasonable and worth it.

Don't see a problem with it. Call ahead if you want to double check. Someone brought a nice cake for my bachelorette dinner and the restaurant we were at didn't care and offered to cut the cake for us and brought us extra plates for it.

Nothing like sitting around waiting on a table of 20 to finish eating muffins for an hour and a half after they finish eating. If you want a birthday party with cake, go to chuck e cheese.

I don't think Galatoire's is as interested in the churn and burn model as Applebee's or Chuck-E-Cheese.
Especially since "birthday celebration" usually equals "alcohol sales".

exactly what I was thinking...as long as you are buying something from them, I doubt they would have any problem....

Anytime I've been to a restaurant and we stayed there longer than usual.....I always tip the server extra for it.

It's perfectly fine. I'd call ahead and let them know. They could hold it for you and even cut it and bring it out for you. Most restaurants will charge you a fee though.

That's what I thought. My boyfriend who may or may not be LSU_Kev keeps telling me that it's tacky.
